Piano Class Very Unsatisfactory
Filed under Moving and RelocatingMar 30
I’ll never forget a piano course I took when I was attending the Community College of Philadelphia. It was a “class” piano course where about 20-25 people were seated around keyboards. Each keyboard had headphones and we were supplied with a standard piano textbook.
The course lasted 4 months or so and I learned how to play triads with both hands. I also learned how to read treble and bass clefs.
I can’t say that I was thrilled with this course. In fact, I remember thinking how boring it was. And dry. Why couldn’t we learn something that would allow creativity in?
I guess most “teachers” don’t think you can be creative in music until you spend about 2 years learning what they consider to be the basics. This is all nonsense and only serves to mystify music and make it inaccessible to the masses.
I can only say that during the 16 weeks or so of attending this class, I learned that I didn’t really want to play the piano. Why? Because I wasn’t having fun! And fun is the impetus for further exploration. It seems like common sense to me. Yet this idea of actually enjoying the process of making music eludes music teachers at the college level.
Ironically, elementary school teachers know that their students MUST HAVE FUN first or they won’t be interested in learning more. Children spend their time in musical activities that inspire imagination and create a sense of joy. How interesting that this same educational technique is not employed for the grown ups among us.
Of course I’m not saying that adults should spend their time skipping and hopping on musical notes to learn them. What I am saying is that it’s important that joy and love of music be placed before theory and discipline.Tagged as: 4 Months, Class Piano, Common Sense, Community College Of Philadelphia, Creativity, Discipline, Educational Technique, Elementary School Teachers, Having Fun, Headphones, Imagination, Impetus, Keyboards, Music Teachers, Nonsense, Piano Class, Piano Course, Textbook, Treble And Bass, Ups -
VA Home Improvement Loan
There are many varieties of loans offered to veterans and service personnel, and a home improvement loan is one of them. Repairing an existing house using ordinary home improvement loans could turn out to be quite costly compared to VA home improvement loans. Home improvement loans can be used for any repairing work carried on the house.
Now veterans can borrow up to 90% of their home equity for home improvements. The $25,000 cap has been removed from the home improvement loan program. Loans of $3,000 or less can be secured with a guarantor instead of a mortgage. There are many advantages to a VA home improvement loan program such as increasing the equity; the value and comfort added to your home by making improvements; a rate of interest that will be fixed and will be starting as low as 5%; and terms of up 15 years. Additionally, qualified applicants may apply for more than one home improvement loan.
There are many home improvement projects that you can opt for to make your home more comfortable and also add to its value as a property. For instance, installation and repair of clean water and waste disposal systems, including related plumbing and fixtures; or additions such as garage construction; repairs and remodeling (i.e., replace a roof, install new windows, a new furnace or a central air conditioning system); etc.
You can obtain the home of your dreams without moving into a new house, simply by taking advantage of the VA home improvement loan program and making the necessary repairs and additions.Tagged as: Additions, Air Conditioning System, Central Air Conditioning, Central Air Conditioning System, Clean Water, Furnace, Garage Construction, Guarantor, Home Equity, Home Improvement Loan, Home Improvement Loans, Home Improvement Projects, Home Improvements, Loan Program, Necessary Repairs, Plumbing, Program Loans, Rate Of Interest, Va Loans, Waste Disposal Systems
